About us

Evolution is what our development engineers call it when they harmonise ultra-modern technology and traditional Swiss precision in their ground-breaking precision instruments. Continuous innovation has enabled the premium label to ready its classic tweezers to meet new and exacting demands.
Substantial added value, clear customer benefits and a reliably uncompromised level of product quality for each single pair of tweezers are the targets of our R&D.

Company history

Rubis has been making precision tweezers for over 60 years. In the beginning, the tweezers were used exclusively in the Swiss watch industry. Only extremely precise and high-quality tweezers could be used to assemble the sensitive mechanical movements of well-known manufacturers such as Patek Philippe, Cartier or Rolex. This gave rise to an independent handicraft tradition at Rubis, which was characterized by a pronounced sense of precision and the beauty of the shape that the Swiss watchmakers have always practiced.

Awards

The Rubis products are completely in line with the Bauhaus philosophy, where functional utility and aesthetic form merge into a harmonious unity in the everyday object.

Manufacturing

All our products are made by hand according to all rules of traditional craftsmanship from the best steel. And checked and checked again and again. So that no product that leaves the factory does not meet the highest demands. It is the desire for perfection that can be felt in each of our products.

Technical info

Each pair of tweezers is individually manufactured and tested to guarantee first-class Swiss quality. All parts are made of acid-resistant surgical steel. They can thus be disinfected or sterilised in acids and cleaned in an autoclave.

Made in Switzerland

There are a few things that really matter to Swiss people. That is why you can feel it in our products. Precision, for example. This typical Swiss desire to make everything as precise as possible down to the smallest detail, this perfectionism not to give up until everything is exactly the way it should be. It's just inside us.

Fides Baldesberger

Owner and CEO

Fides Baldesberger is actually an art historian. However, after completing her studies, she attended the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Los Angeles. First, she worked for a dealer at the diamond exchange in Antwerp, later she imported valuable gemstones from India to Switzerland: the beautiful and practical - and a large portion of courage and tenacity - a pattern that will be repeated again and again later.

60 years of Rubis

Tweezers may be simple tools. Nevertheless, they are indispensable in many contexts. Without them, there would be neither computers nor mobile phones. The demands placed on them have grown and become more multifaceted in recent decades. This is reflected in the history of a company that was founded exactly 60 years ago in Stabio/Ticino (Switzerland) and today - at least in the sectors in which it operates - produces what are probably the world's best tweezers: the Rubis Outils.
